All-Ceramic Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, durable ceramic sheaths that can be crafted from porcelain or ceramic in our in-house laboratory. They’re designed to fit over the visible surface of individual teeth, so you can utilize this treatment to improve several damaged teeth or an entire row, depending on your needs. The veneers act to conceal cosmetic dental problems, including slight misalignment and gaps, dental damage, and staining, revealing a symmetrical and flawless smile in their place.

All-Ceramic Dental Restorations

When restoring teeth that have been damaged or previously treated, or those that are misshapen, we take a detail-oriented approach to care. Using ceramic or zirconia, we’ll craft customized crowns, bridges, and inlays or onlays to restore the tooth’s structure and protect it from future harm. The result is lifelike, ensuring that no onlookers will be able to tell which of your teeth has been treated.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
![Hand holding an Invisalign clear aligner](assets/images/cosmetic-dentistry-6.jpg)
Invisalign clear aligners are an excellent option if you suffer from mild misalignment or crowding, especially before you receive any other cosmetic dentistry treatment, like veneers or crowns. Using smooth, clear trays, we can help shift your teeth into their ideal positions to improve the appearance and health of your smile. Due to your aligners’ discreteness, you can also easily maintain a professional appearance as you’re undergoing treatment.
Teeth Whitening

Dental staining is an unfortunate reality that most people have to face, either as they age, or throughout their entire lives. This is because discoloration can be caused by several different underlying reasons, ranging from genetics and medications you take to the foods that you eat on a daily basis. Fortunately, if the shade of your teeth doesn’t make you feel confident, you can invest in effective, safe, professional teeth whitening. We offer both in-office and take-home Zoom! treatment, but many of our patients prefer in-office, as they’re able to enjoy results within an hour!
Direct Bonding
![Dental patient getting direct bonding on a front tooth](assets/images/cosmetic-dentistry-8.jpg)
Direct bonding is a minimally invasive and highly effective way to address minor imperfections, like chips in teeth, discoloration, and even gaps. Using composite resin that’s custom-shaded to match the color of your natural tooth’s enamel, your prosthodontist will artfully sculpt the missing portion of your tooth, texturizing and shaping it to look lifelike. Due to composite resin’s biocompatible nature, it will fuse with the enamel of your tooth, meaning little to no alteration of your dental structure will be necessary.
It is important to remember that bonding is a lower cost alternative to veneers and may not be applicable in all situations. It also is not as long lasting as veneers or all-ceramic restorative work. We can provide bonding for minor chips and dental damage, but major esthetic changes will require more extensive ceramic restorations such as custom crowns or veneers.
Gum Recontouring/ Crown Lengthening

Overgrown and excessive gum tissue can throw off the balance of your smile by covering most of your teeth. With gum recontouring at Boston Prosthodontics Dental Group, we can safely remove excess soft tissue to reveal more of your teeth, harmonizing and balancing your smile with the perfect proportion. The best part of investing in this treatment is that the results are permanent, so you won’t have to worry about routine touch-ups or future maintenance procedures.
Understanding the Cost of Cosmetic Dentistry

These elected procedures are intended to enhance your appearance more than improve your dental health, so most insurance companies will not cover the cost. However, we believe everyone deserves to have the smile of their dreams regardless of what’s in their bank account, so we offer many services at varying price points to help you achieve the desired results.

Which Cosmetic Dental Service is Right for Me?

Smile Makeovers: This is likely the most expensive option because it involves building a customized treatment plan that includes any cosmetic and restorative services necessary to help you address one or several aesthetic concerns.
Veneers: These thin, ceramic shells are bonded to the front surface of your teeth to mask imperfections and can range anywhere from $500 to $2,000+ per tooth. Thankfully, they can also last 25+ years, making them an excellent long-term investment.
All-Ceramic Dental Restorations: Historically, dental crowns and other restorations were made from amalgam metal, which draws unwanted attention and can eventually erode teeth. We can replace any outdated dental work with more lifelike, tooth-colored materials.
Invisalign: This alternative orthodontic method relies on clear plastic trays that fit snuggly over your teeth to gently reposition them and is priced mid-range.
Teeth Whitening: This inexpensive option can potentially remove years' worth of dental discoloration in a single in-office visit for a few hundred dollars.
Direct Bonding: We can repair minor issues like chips, cracks, and other blemishes by applying color-matched composite resin directly to your enamel and bonding it in place. This often can be completed in one appointment and frequently costs between $100 to $600 per tooth.
Is Cosmetic Dentistry an Investment Worth Making?

If you’re considering undergoing one or more cosmetic procedures, it’s natural to wonder whether the investment is worth it. However, did you know that people with dental problems are more likely to experience anxiety and depression? If you’re overly worried about whether you’ll be judged for your looks, you might remain tight-lipped instead of engaging in meaningful conversations or relationships with others.
Upgrading your grin can give you the confidence to interact with others more meaningfully and expand your professional and romantic opportunities.

Cosmetic Dentistry FAQs
Do you have other questions about veneers in Boston that aren’t discussed here? Feel free to reach out to our team for clarification and to schedule your consultation.
Is Cosmetic Dentistry Expensive?
While many people assume that cosmetic dental treatments are expensive, this is not always the case. Though it is rare for dental insurance to cover elective cosmetic procedures, we offer a selection of treatment options at a wide variety of different price points. During your consultation at our office in Boston, we’ll carefully discuss your goals and budget to determine a treatment that works for you, and we also offer financing options to help patients fit life-changing dental work into their budgets. Investing in your smile can also lead to a range of new professional and social opportunities by enhancing your confidence so you can make an outstanding first impression.
Is Cosmetic Dentistry Safe?
Cosmetic dentistry is completely safe as long as it is carried out by a qualified professional. However, every treatment is not right for every patient, so we’ll carefully evaluate your oral health and discuss your goals and budget during your consultation at our Boston office. In some cases, we may need to perform treatments like fillings or periodontal therapy to clear up infections in the gums or teeth before we can perform a cosmetic procedure. While professional teeth whitening treatments are perfectly safe, store-bought dental bleaching products can lead to tooth or gum injuries due to poor manufacturing or user error.
Does Cosmetic Dentistry Hurt?
Many patients who would love to enhance their smiles with cosmetic dentistry are hesitant to commit due to anxiety about their procedure being painful. We understand this, which is why we do everything we can to ensure that treatments administered in our office are as comfortable as possible. Direct bonding and teeth whitening are both so non-invasive that performing them typically does not require anesthesia. For treatments that require teeth to be reshaped such as all-ceramic veneers, our dentist will administer a local anesthetic to ensure that the process is painless. While you may experience some mild sensitivity for a few days after your procedure, this should be temporary and easy to manage with over-the-counter pain relivers.
How Can Cosmetic Dentistry Change Your Life?
While some people might assume that addressing cosmetic flaws in your teeth is petty, cosmetic dentistry can deliver a range of significant benefits for your quality of life. If you like the appearance of your smile, you will probably be more motivated to take care of it with proper oral hygiene, which can set you up for many years of excellent oral health. Your gorgeous new grin may also make you feel more encouraged to quit smoking or reduce your consumption of stain-causing beverages like coffee and soda. Straightening your teeth with Invisalign can make it easier to take care of your smile while preventing dental damage and reducing the strain on your jaw joints, which can help you stay comfortable when speaking and chewing. Smiling also triggers the release of your body’s natural feel-good chemicals, so having a grin that you’re eager to show off can help brighten your mood, and some research suggests that smiling can boost the immune system, which can help you avoid a range of health problems later on.
